fix(android): check null activity 
If activity is null at initialization, the app crashes. This change checks for null activity and throw react native error, which prevents app crash.

just added a function which acts like a ternary with fallback option. Hence, less cluttered "def" variables
great to see that lib is supporting already SDK 27
